It's his scholarly knowledge of global club music and Indonesian folk and pop traditions that makes Bali-based producer Kasimyn such an irreverent and powerful force. Right now he might be best known for assisting Björk with production on last year's "Fossora", but he's also half of the chaotic Gabber Modus Operandi, the boss of Gorong Gorong Records, a part of Tianzhuo Chen’s Trance Band and a breathtakingly innovative DJ. Kasimyn understands the deep links between most contemporary sounds and traditional forms of music, illustrating this with humor, skill and sweaty ritual (or rave?) energy.
