Writing and recording his music in Anacortes, Washington, Phil Elverum has produced over forty albums since his early run of tape experiments as The Microphones in the mid-1990s. Since then he's notched up considerable acclaim and indie notoriety, releasing as Mount Eerie, running a record label, co-organizing festivals and self-publishing books. Like David Lynch's iconic Twin Peaks, Elverum's music characterizes its Pacific Northwestern surroundings, shadowing ambient, black metal and folk into a smudgy, hyper-personal dream diary that's struck through with love and loss.
